St. Claude School Complex - First Ever Local Career Fair

On May 12th, 2023 we could be found at the St. Claude Autobody booth, in the St. Claude School Complex Gymnasium for the first ever local Career Fair.  This was a great opportunity for reaching out to local high school students who may be looking for future career opportunities.

In order to give students the closest thing to a hands on experience as possible, we setup a virtual reality paint booth which was supplied by the Automotive Trades Association of Manitoba.  Before we were even done setting up our booth, we had several volunteer testers, including local paramedics and fire fighters!

Virtual Reality (VR) is a computer-generated environment with scenes and objects that appear to be real, making the user feel like they are immersed in their surroundings. This environment is perceived through a device known as a Virtual Reality headset and hand controllers – which in this case simulate a paint gun.

Although painting makes up only a small portion of what an autobody technician might do on a day-to-day basis (especially with all of the advances in technology in today’s vehicles) we wanted to let the students experience what a portion of their day might entail if they ever decided to make St. Claude Autobody a part of their career.

Of course, all of this wouldn’t be possible without the support of the St. Claude School Complex admin, as well as the students themselves – so THANK YOU for a great first ever (Annual?!) Local Career Fair! We’d also like to send out a special thank you to Nadine Williams for organizing the event.

It was great to see so many local businesses in one place.  We are very proud to operate our business in our hometown of St. Claude, MB, and to see so many other local businesses looking to hire local youth shows the positive growth that we love to see in our community.
