Dorrian Selley - the apprentice that has flooded our news feed

Dorrian Selley as a fresh St. Claude Autobody apprentice in early 2021

Our newest apprentice has really made the most of the beginning of his journey into his career as a certified autobody technician.

Dorrian Selley started working at St. Claude Autobody near the end of 2020.
He started his journey as an apprentice with the goal to become a Red Seal technician in the Collision Repair & Refinishing Program. He saw St Claude Autobody as a great workplace to pursue a career doing something that he loves, and we were thrilled to have him on our team.

In May 2022 – Dorrian won the gold medal for Autobody Repair at the 2022 Skills Manitoba Competition

Also in May 2022 – Dorrian Selley won the gold medal at the Skills Canada National Competition.

Dorrian was 1 of over 3,000 people who visited the 2022 Skills Canada National Competition at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Medals were awarded to the top competitors in six skilled trade and technology sectors, including: transportation, construction, manufacturing and engineering, information technology, services and employment. The competitors were evaluated based on strict industry standards.

In February, 2023, Dorrian was the recipient of a $750 scholarship courtesy of the Sam Piercey Foundation

This spring, Dorrian competed again at the provincial skills competition and came home with the gold medal. Following the provincial skills competition, on May 10th, Skills Canada Manitoba hosted the Team Manitoba Gold Medalist Celebration and presents Dorrian with $1000 for having achieved the best overall score across all completions in every class.

In May, Dorrian – competed at the 2023 Skills Canada National Competition and came home with the Silver medal.

Very recently, Dorrian got married and has since moved to Haywood, MB.  His wife has started a job at one of the schools in town and helps teach our kids every single day. We love seeing young people move into our community, and we’re lucky to have a young family like Dorrian and his wife starting the next chapter of their lives as members of our community.
